When it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) many people have no idea why they should implement it and how it can effect there site. Properly implemented SEO can increase your websites search engine rankins on multiple keywords and will increase your traffic. I will go through a list of 3 plugins and or modules you should install on your joomla 1.5 website to increase it's visibility on themajor search engines.
1.SEOSimple http://www.daobydesign.com/blog/seosimple-joomla-15-plugin/  This simple Joomla 1.5 plugin simply takes the starting chunk of text from the page's content and applies that as the value for the meta description tag in the page's head. Search engines often use a Web page's meta description in the SERPs, and as such it is important that these meta descriptions have relevant text related to the page's content.
What this means is this plugin installs some sample data in the meta description field within your article manager when you create a new article. I know numerous times I have not filled this in for each article i have created. This is a great timesaver and will help a ton with listing your articles on the internet search engines. 2.Custom Page Title SEO http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/pagetitle/frs/ You can improve the SEO settings of Joomla 1.5 with this free SEO patch for Joomla 1.5. This patch solves the issues in regards of the settings within the html head section of your html page. When you create a new joomla 1.5 site the title of your webpage will be the title of the home page article assigned on that website. This is a BIg hassle and most people do NOT wan't this on there website. This fixes this issue and allows you to customise each of the webpages title headers. 3.Google Analtics www.google.com/analytics/ Google Analytics makes it easy to improve your results online. Write better ads, strengthen your marketing initiatives, and create higher-converting webpages. This is a MUST HAVE for any webmaster. This is a great tool which measures your traffic with indepth graphics it has many features including traffic to your website resulting from keywords, sites linking to your site, the location of visitors and the list goes on. For people with e-commerce sites running google adwords this is one tool your should have installed. Why you ask? Well for one when you sign up to google ad words you are paying per click on those add words, and the utmost important thing is a return on your investment. Google analytics allows you to track keywords which convert, so you can save money on the ones that don't. I will write a more in depth post about this another day.
