csvimproved virtuemart joomla Csvimproved for virtuemart is a great little component for joomla 1.5 which provides users the option to import CSV or XML files into there online Virtuemart store. I really like this product and have decided to write up a review / tutorial of this product and how it can help you for your online store.

In many situations as a web designer I have been prompted with the question can you convert my Zencart, Oscommerce or Magento site over to Virtuemart for joomla 1.5. When you are faced with this situation of transfering over a 5000 product site the last thing you want to do is copy and paste 5 thousand times, or risk hiring a data scraper to do the job for you.

CSVImproved component for joomla 1.5 and virtuemart provides a set of 5 - 10 import and export templates to get you started with the process of importing your data.

Once you have exported your CSV file from your previous website for transfer you will need to assign the information to the correct data columns which correlate to the columns set in the template for CSVImproved.

Your CSV file and the CSV import template has to be exactly the same or the process will not work.

Tip - Make sure you get your text dilimeters correct on both ends.

Open up your excel file it should look something like this.

Once you have copied over the exact information that you need into the corresponding columns, export the excel sheet as a CSV file.

The good this about this is if you have a large CSV file with many products, it will automatically create the categories in the store for you.

CSVImproved also imported image files and auto resizes them for the thumbnails, which you upload to the server beforehand.

Overall if you are looking to either transfer a website over to joomla 1.5 and virtuemart or create a store from a drop shipper account, this is the component for you, I recommend it highly.
