Joomla media manager is a unique interface tool which is a hub for the management and use of images witin your joomal website. To use this feature you must first navigate to the joomla media manager menu item in the joomla administrator 
The next window shows the folder in the media manage and the images that reside within the folders.
To use images in articles they must be uploaded in the stories folder 
The folders in media manager shows a visual tree of he folders available and where they are located in your joomla sites images folder. You can also upload images and folders through your FTP browser and they will automatically show up in your joomla administration media manager 
In some cases you maty not be able to upload images through your media manager do to CHMOD or server permission on phpupload restrictions or security. In this case you can use the ftp layer to upload, by entering your main FTP user and password details. When you uplaod PNG, JPG, GIF files to use in your articles, you can inert them into articles by clicking on the image button at the bottom of the main text area in the article manager.
